BOCA RATON, FL ( (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) – A Boca Raton woman seeking police assistance ended up being arrested herself.

Carla Pollard of the 1300 block of Sycamore Terrace in Boca Raton apparently didn’t like that the man she was with smoked. So when he lit a cigarette, she knocked it out of her mouth. He responded by “flipping” his arm. When he lit a second, it started again. This time he nudged her shoulder. Pollard called Boca Raton police and a responding officer filed the following report, obtained by

“She admitted to knocking the cigarette out of her mouth, which caused her to put her forearm back with her left hand. He then got up and tried to light another cigarette. She said she then pulled the cigarette out of his mouth again, to which he responded by nudging her left shoulder with his right hand. She then called the police.

It should be noted that I did not observe any marks or redness on his person. She had a quarter sized bloodstain on her shirt, but we couldn’t determine where the blood came from. Medical treatment was refused.

I then spoke to the victim who seemed drunk and uncooperative. He initially denied that anything physical had taken place and only stated that a verbal argument had taken place. After several attempts to get the story, he confirmed that she knocked a cigarette out of her mouth but denies ever hitting or touching her. I observed two small cuts on his right cheek which he said were from a previous work incident. Other than the marks on his cheeks, I did not observe any marks or redness on his person. Medical care was also denied.

Based on my investigation and the totality of the circumstances, I have determined that Carla Pollard was the primary assailant and have developed probable cause per FSS 784.03 (1A1) Household Battery, after striking a cigarette from the victim’s mouth.

Carla Pollard was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail on October 16 at approximately 10 p.m. She was released on her own recognizance at 3:20 p.m. on October 17.
