Cognac Frapin announces the Rabelais cuvée

NEW YORK, NY— Cognac Frapin, the artisanal cognac brand founded by Pierre Frapin, launches Cuvée Rabelais (MSRP: $13,000), an exquisite limited-edition cognac named in honor of humanist and writer François Rabelais. The origin of this rare cognac has its roots in craftsmanship dating back to 1270, when the legendary style of the Frapin family flourished in the 19th century. The blend pays homage to Frapin’s historical roots, emphasizing its exceptional character; a blend of remarkable eaux-de-vie spanning centuries, making it one of their oldest and most exclusive offerings.

When embarking on the journey to create Cuvée Rabelais, Cellar Master, Patrice Piveteau hand-selected barrels from Frapin’s most historic and historical cellars only in the “Paradise cellars” and in the Dames -Jeannes of venerable cognacs. Piveteau has carefully assembled each eau-de-vie, revealing an incredible symphony of flavors.

“Cuvée Rabelais is a luxurious blend that allows you to experience the beauty of the Charente region and celebrate the rich history of Cognac Frapin with every sip,” says cellar master Patrice Piveteau. “Being able to oversee such a special and historically significant release is a true honor and testament to the Cellar Masters who have come before me and been instrumental in creating this exceptional offering. It is truly one of a kind.”

With an amber color with orange reflections, the blend of Cuvée Rabelais reveals a particularly delicate nose, with notes of orange and candied apricot and discreet aromas of wood. On the palate, it melts with notes of dried fruit and liqueur ice cream, before revealing the complex aromas of the famous Charentais rancio, the scent of tobacco and cigar boxes. Its exceptionally long finish completes every sip of this limited edition. Like all Frapin Assemblage Cognacs, the Cuvée Rabelais comes exclusively from the Frapin estate, which has 240 hectares of vines located in the heart of Grande Champagne, the first of the six crus of the Cognac Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée.

Cognac Frapin’s desire for excellence is constant throughout the execution, from the release of the Cuvée Rabelais to its decanter. Carefully crafted by the Cristallerie Saint-Louis, the oldest glass factory in France, this carafe has been meticulously designed to highlight the golden reflections of an exceptional Cognac with a bold round base, engraved vine branches distinctive features and its bottle neck wrapped in 24 carat gold. These characteristics combine to transport Cognac lovers to Charente and offer a real tasting ritual that embodies luxury. The Cuvée Rabelais is a testament to Cognac Frapin’s love for France and delicate know-how.

Cognac Frapin’s portfolio includes premium cognacs that have been praised by consumers and critics, including the 2022 World Spirits Masters Competition which named Château Fontpinot XO ‘Cognac Taste Master 2022.

About Cognac Frapin

Located in the heart of Grande Champagne, the single-family estate of Frapin comprises more than 240 hectares, or approximately 600 acres, of vines surrounding the grand Château Fontpinot. The vines take advantage of the vast hillsides and chalky soils that make up the landscape of the estate which result in incredibly rich, complex, delicate and elegant aromas. The house’s cellar master, Patrice Piveteau, oversees cognac operations and blending, deciding when vintage products will be launched. From the management of the vineyard and the artisanal distillation on the lees of grapes grown exclusively on the Frapin vines, to the aging in century-old cellars, each step ensures the continuity of the Frapin style.
