Amber Heard’s lawyers have been called by cosmetics brand Milani, after claiming the actress used a product that didn’t match its release date.
A US cosmetics brand has started the defamation lawsuit Johnny Depp brought against his ex-wife Amber Heard, denying allegations made in court by Heard’s lawyer.
Milani Cosmetics was recently mentioned in the libel case currently being heard in Virginia, The New York Post reports.
During opening statements this week, Heard’s attorney claimed the actress had carried Milani Conceal + Perfect All-in-One Correcting Kit with her throughout her “entire relationship with Johnny” – and has suggested that she used the makeup to cover up injuries caused by Depp’s alleged physique. abuse during their relationship.
Milani has since responded to the brand’s surprise mention during the trial.
On Thursday, the makeup company posted a 15-second video on its official TikTok account to debunk Heard’s claim.
“You asked us…for the record to show that our patch kit was launched in 2017!” the firm captioned the post.
“Take note: alleged abuse was around 2014-2016, divorced 2016, makeup palette release date: December 2017,” read the text on the video that showed Depp and Heard in the courtroom. , like the Backyardigans song international super spy rooms.
The clip cuts to Milani’s headquarters, where a young woman is holding a catalog of the company’s products, open to the page describing the compact makeup. The camera then cuts to a slide that definitely shows the product’s release date as 2017, which means Heard certainly wasn’t using that particular cosmetic during her relationship with Depp.
“We are here to provide the facts of the case,” the brand added in the comments.
A nasty battle in the courtroom unfolds
The two actors have feuded in and out of the courtroom since ending their marriage in 2017.
Depp brought the current libel suit against his ex-wife after Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in which she alleged that she had been the victim of domestic violence. In the play, she did not name Depp.
The trial currently taking place in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, recounted various dramas that allegedly took place throughout their tumultuous marriage.
Fingertip severed, court hears
An incident between the pair reportedly took place during a visit to Australia in 2015 while Depp was filming one of the films for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that left Depp with his fingertip cut off.
The actor told the court they were arguing over a postnuptial agreement he asked Heard to sign.
He said the request angered Heard and she started hurling insults. After she gave in, he snuck downstairs and broke his sobriety by drinking a few shots of vodka. The actress grabbed him and got angry throwing the vodka bottle at him, he claimed. It shattered on his hand, which was resting on the side of the bar, Depp said.
“What I felt was warmth. I felt warmth and it felt like something was running down my hand,” the actor told the court. “I looked down and realized my fingertip had been severed. I was looking directly at my bones sticking out.
Depp had to have his finger reconstructed.
He went on to say that after the same trip to Australia, Heard put out a cigarette in Depp’s face.
“Ms. Heard had taken my cigarette from the ashtray and stomped it on my face,” Depp claimed, as his lawyers showed the panel photos of his injuries.
Depp, 58, said he used what was left of his right middle finger to scribble messages on the wall.
“In the middle of a nervous breakdown, I started writing with my own blood on the walls,” he testified. “Little reminders of our past that were basically lies that [Heard] told me lies in which I had surprised her.
Heard denied injuring Depp’s finger and previously accused him of violently assaulting her during the trip.
Infamous Disfigurement Incident
In 2016, after another blow-up with Heard on his 30th birthday, Depp said he fled their Los Angeles home.
He planned to come back for a few items while Heard was at the Coachella Music Festival in 2016 – but his security warned him against it and showed him a picture of their marital bed.
“On my side of the bed there was human feces,” he told the court. “I laughed. It was so out there, it was so weird and so grotesque that I could only laugh.
Depp once accused Heard or one of his friends of pooping in bed. But Heard denied it, blaming the feces in his teacup Yorkies.
“I lived with these dogs for many years,” Depp said. “It didn’t come from a dog. It just wasn’t.
Depp wants $69 million in lawsuit
Depp, who has vehemently denied the domestic violence allegations, is seeking at least $69 million in damages to his career, plus another $480,000 in punitive damages, legal fees and court costs.
He said the article prevented him from getting any acting work, including being fired from his starring role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the pirate movies.
“I don’t think it took Disney very long, maybe a few days, to announce that I had been pulled from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise,” he said. “I lost nothing less than everything.”
