KT&G to build new cigarette packaging factory in Sejong

South Korean tobacco company KT&G announced on Monday that it plans to build a new environmentally friendly tobacco packaging factory in the central administrative center of Sejong city.

Under the 180 billion won ($133.5 million) project, the plant will be built in the Sejong Mirae Industrial Zone, an area developed by the government for local manufacturing enterprises, by 2025.

KT&G said the factory will produce tobacco packaging such as cigarette papers and boxes, based on an advanced logistics automation system and digital printing process.

It aims to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, an eco-certification by using renewable energy, including solar power and improving infrastructure for air (pollution) and water waste, the company added. .

“With the eco-friendly factory, we plan to help make Sejong a green city, and also make extra efforts to support the disadvantaged and other corporate social responsibility activities,” an official said. from KT&G.
