Metal cigarette roll used as weapon, resulting in assault charges | Crime reports

Berwick, Pa. – Briar Creek Township Police responded on Oct. 14 to calls to a servant involving someone throwing a metal cigarette rolling machine.

Constable Lee Pitonyak said he observed a black and blue mark and bump on the head of the reported caller. According to the probable cause affidavit, the accuser was punched in the back of the neck and then in the face with the cigarette rolling machine.

Kayla Nicole Balazs, 29, of Berwick has been charged with common assault in the third degree and a summary charge of harassment. Police said they were able to locate her within a few residences of the reported call.

Pitonyak said Balazs argued with the officers about what had happened, telling them, “I don’t put my hands behind my back.”

According to the report, after a short struggle, Balazs was arrested. Balazs is being held in Columbia County Jail in lieu of $ 5,000 cash bail as she awaits a preliminary hearing on October 25.
