Premiere: Ramz says goodbye to summer in ‘Cigarettes & Roses’ visuals

Ramz had one of the most interesting character arcs in the British musical game. Arriving on stage with the ubiquitous smash that was “Barking” hasn’t been the easy path we’ve come to expect since. Five years and 83 million views later, the song is still a staple of commercial success, but the weight of a hit can weigh heavily.

As a result, Ramz has had something of a soul-searching period ever since. Taking the time to reflect on his music, his image, and ultimately who he is as a person seems to have done him good. Tracks like ‘Brixton to Oxford Circus’ and ‘Purple Flows’ demonstrated his versatility and that deep down he’s a real spitter of things to say. “Cigarettes & Roses”, excerpt from his recent i miss you ramone EP, is another reminder of his top talent.

“Cigarettes & Roses” sees Ramz fly off to a sunny destination overseas, celebrating his success and progress but of course also taking time to reflect. Rapping with confidence and elegance, it begins with “Heartbreak got me losing focus / Feel like I never made progress”.

As soon as the tone is set and combined with a triumphant 169 production, you are immediately transported into the mind of Ramz who is in top form, delivering quote after quote while effortlessly demonstrating his prowess with flow and delivery.
